Sometimes I just have to get out of the house. I am tired of seeing the kids add to the already-existing couch stains. Or my 20-month old dunking her hands in the toilet when I'm not looking. And if I hear my father-in-law's steps come up those stairs one more time...(he lives with us.)
So I ventured out today. Just like I try to do everyday. With the three kids, which to me, is still quite the feat. Today we went to Hobby Lobby to get some crafts. Going to this store with small children is like going to a store with small children. It's not easy. But I was determined because our days have been reduced to how many Wonderpets/Busytown/Sesame Streets we can fit in, since going out with an infant can often prove difficult. Don't even talk to me about the guilt I feel by putting on the TV. I'm sure if you're a mom, you can relate.
We got some clay figures to paint in a kid-friendly craft set and also a princess puppet show to put together for the days when we're stuck at home, aka, everyday.
So far, our favorite summer activities are:
Going to the library
Frequenting a park (when I have someone with me to help)
Playing outside in the garage/yard
Using Grandma's slip n slide
We haven't gone to the pools b/c I can't watch both my 20-month old AND the infant, unless someone is with me.
Pretty soon the school year will start, and we'll find a whole new routine and activities to do.
What do you do during the summer with small, small children? Leave a comment on the blog if you can...
